Rest, Reset and Sleep
Jersey City
June 6th, 2025
Hi there!
As you read this, I’ll be on the beautiful Greek island of Paros. Lucky me!
I’m on a yoga retreat with Kim Larkin and several other women. We’ve been doing yoga, eating great food, swimming and exploring. Yoga is my happy place. It’s good for my body and my head. What’s your happy place? Whatever it is, I hope you visit it frequently.
One thing that I’ve noticed here is that I’m sleeping so well. I feel truly rested. Two yoga classes daily, fresh air and the sound of the ocean helps, I’m sure.
As you know, sleep is important and it’s not just the number of hours you sleep, 7 to 9 is ideal, but the quality of your sleep. You need deep sleep (REM). This is when your brain clears out toxins. Deep sleep is important for cognitive functioning. Without it you can have brain fog and memory loss. Since you don’t want that, try to go to sleep and stay asleep.
If you’re having sleep issues, please come to the next JC Menopause Meet Up on June 10th. The discussion will focus on sleep. Mollie Busino is our guest speaker. She’s a therapist who is highly trained in CBT-I. This is cognitive behavioral therapy and is the gold standard for sleep issues. She’ll explain CBT-I and give you sleep tips and answer questions. As I always say, there is a solution for all your menopause symptoms. Don’t let lack of sleep derail you. The Meet Up is free but please register and bring a friend. I’m sure you know someone else who could benefit from this information.
I’m going to end here (I’ve got a yoga class to get to). Hope to see you on the 10th.
Be well,
Laura
