Are you sandwiched & stressed?

Hi there!

By the time you reach menopause you may find yourself caring for elderly parents while at the same time raising your own children. You’re sandwiched between two sets of responsibilities. Add to that a demanding job and your body behaving in erratic ways and life can quickly become overwhelming.

It’s critical that you make time for yourself. You need a room of your own, either a real room or a metaphorical one. You need someplace to escape to where you can just be and breathe.

This is particularly important during menopause when your nervous system experiences major hormonal shifts and a decline in estrogen. When this happens, the sympathetic nervous system becomes overly active, putting you into a fight or flight mode.

It’s ok to be in a fight or flight mode some of the time but going from one stressful situation to another means that you are in a fight or flight mode most of the time. That is not good. It can impact you both physically and mentally. If you’re moody or anxious most of the time you’re probably in fight or flight mode. Tingling in your hands and feet can also be a sign that your nervous system is out of balance.

You realize that you need to regulate your nervous system but how?
