LAURA HOMAN LACEY is the historian of the 6th Marine Division Association and U.S. representative of the Battle of Okinawa Museum. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in liberal studies and history from Mary Washington College and the University of Texas, Arlington, respectively. She was the United States Marine Corps 2002 Gridley Fellow and was the recipient of the 2003 University of Texas, Arlington Wolfskill Award. Her interest in the Pacific theater of World War II resulted from having lived on Okinawa with her husband, a Marine aviator. She lives in Stafford, VA.
